Medicine study program (in English)

 

Admission to the Medicine study program (in English) is done through a selection process based on the application file.

 

Candidates eligible to apply for the selection process:

  1. citizens of the European Union member states (including Romanian citizens), of the countries belonging to the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation, as well as British citizens and their family members, as beneficiaries of the Agreement on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and from the European Atomic Energy Community 2019/C 384 I/01;
  2. citizens of non-EU countries;

 

Enrollment requirements:

Candidates must provide proof of English language proficiency. They must present an international language proficiency certificate at a minimum B1 level or a language proficiency certificate obtained from the Continuing Education Department of DJUG, not older than 2 years.

Candidates who do not hold an English language certificate or whose certificate is older than 2 years may take a test, for a fee, at the Continuing Education Department. Candidates are advised to register for the English language test at least 3 days before the end of the registration period.

Citizens who have completed their high school studies in an educational institution where the language of instruction is English, or who have obtained at least a B1 level in the baccalaureate exam, are exempt from presenting a language proficiency certificate, as well as citizens from the following countries where the official language is English: South Africa, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Cameroon, Dominica, Fiji, Philippines, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, India, Falkland Islands, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Ireland, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Liberia, Malaysia, Malta, United Kingdom, Mauritius, Micronesia, Montserrat, Namibia, Nauru, Nigeria, New Zealand, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, United States of America, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

 

Admission criteria:

  • the final admission average is calculated from 100% of the baccalaureate exam average;
  • for candidates with study documents issued in countries where no average grade is given for the baccalaureate exam/equivalent, the general average of the high school years will be considered instead of the baccalaureate average;

In the case where 2 candidates present the same grade in the baccalaureate exam, the tie-breaker will be as follows:

  • the arithmetic average of the grades in biology and/or chemistry will be taken into consideration;
  • if the curriculum includes both biology and chemistry, the arithmetic average of the grades in biology will be considered first, followed by the arithmetic average of the grades in chemistry.

Citizens of the member states of the European Union, the countries belonging to the European Economic Area, and the Swiss Confederation, as well as British citizens and their family members, beneficiaries of the Agreement on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and from the European Atomic Energy Community 2019/C 384 I/01, are admitted to the Medicine study program (in English), after the recognition of the studies completed in their home countries.

The equivalence of grades will be done according to the equivalence grid issued by the Ministry of Education and Research and can be consulted by accessing the attached file: Grading system.

The files of admitted candidates are sent for recognition to the National Center for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED). Following the evaluation of the file by CNRED, a certificate/attestation is issued, granting the candidate the right to pursue university studies in Romania.

2.  Admission of foreign citizens from non-EU countries

Foreign citizens are individuals who hold the citizenship of a third country of the European Union, proven by holding a valid passport.

Candidates may apply either at the specially designated center at the University’s main headquarters, in the Multimedia Room, or online by uploading the documents on the platform inscriere-admitere.ugal.ro, according to the admission schedule.  Candidatii care doresc să participe la admiterea la programul de studii Medicină (în limba engleză) trebuie să îndeplinească criteriile din OMEN nr. 3473/2017, OMEC nr. 4151/2020, OM nr. 5655/2024 cu modificările și completările ulterioare:

  1. Graduation from a high school accredited in the country of origin and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Research.   2. The high school diploma will be apostilled, where applicable, or accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by the competent authorities in the country of origin;
    • the apostille is applied by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy/Consular Office of Romania in the issuing country;
    • pentru țările unde nu există misiuni diplomatice ale României sau care nu au misiuni diplomatice în  România,  actele  de  studii  vor  avea  viza  Ministerului  Educației și a Ministerului Afacerilor Externe din ţara emitentă.  for countries where Romania does not have diplomatic missions or where there are no diplomatic missions in Romania, the study documents will be endorsed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.

The files of admitted candidates are sent for evaluation to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) – General Directorate for International Relations, European Affairs, and Relations with the OECD (DGRIAERO). Following the evaluation of the file, MEC issues the Letters of Acceptance for Studies and sends them to the higher education institutions and, where applicable, diplomatic missions, both in physical and electronic format.

 

IMPORTANT REMARKS

In the event that the candidate’s surname and given name on the study documents do not match the surname and given name indicated in the ID/passport, the candidate must provide an explanatory note, notarized by a notary, through which the candidate declares that they are the legal holder of the submitted study documents.

For candidates declared admitted, enrollment in studies includes two stages:

  1. Payment of the tuition fee (first installment for Romanian and EU citizens / full payment for non-EU citizens) and completion of the study contract according to its structure, within 3 days from the publication of the final results
  2. Obtaining the Certificate of Recognition of Studies (EU) / Letter of Acceptance for Studies (non-EU) from the competent ministry.

After completing the two stages, the admitted candidate is considered enrolled. If the candidate does not complete stage I, they lose the secured place, which will be offered in the next admission session.

If the admitted candidate does not receive the Certificate of Recognition of Studies (EU) / Letter of Acceptance for Studies (non-EU) / visa, they lose the place, and the tuition fee is non-refundable.
